Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21, 1983) is a well-known American actress. Most notably, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school and moved into Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Though she struggled financially and in the beginning, she made her acting debut acting as Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was the main character for the initial two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace wanted to focus on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) opposite Liam Neeson. In 2008, she played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost in the series, which included the conclusion. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor parts in a few of the films of her father and starred together with her brother in famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her leading performances in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her an Golden Globe Award nomination. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). She also appeared as a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action thriller from 2013, she was a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014), and the lead role on The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year 2018. Gyllenhaal began her professional career as a director, screenwriter and script writer. she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film received the award for Best Screenplay in the Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
